Now I'm sure you all did a double take when you saw that title, so rest assured, I love the MTC. It's been a wonderful experience and I have really come to know my Savior and feel the spirit. But I'll explain the title later, so stay tuned.
This week has been great!! It started out with a devotional talk by President Russell M Nelson of the quorum of the 12 and that was pretty amazing. He gave a great talk about the doctrine of Christ. It was so amazing to feel his spirit and when he walked in, I could just tell that he had a different spirit about him. It was so so strong!
This week our teaching has kinda been up and down haha. We really botched a lesson on Tuesday and we just ended up arguing with some "investigator" about why he should pray and have faith. I don't think he would have invited us back if this was the real world. But all that day, we worked on how we could be better. The next night, with a different investigator, we began doing things to teach with the spirit more and it was so amazing. The spirit was just so strong and It permeated the room. We were asking inspired questions and teaching in unity and it really worked well. I love the PMG system and the ability we have to just follow the spirit. By the end of the lesson, he was asking us if he could pray. So that was a pretty good sign. We teach him again tonight, so we'll see how that goes haha.
I said goodbye to Elder Jensen, Elder Curtis, and Elder Wadsworth this week. It's hard to even fathom being out in the field right now, but they are all getting started! I can't wait to hear from them! The language is coming pretty well, but it is still super hard. Elder Jensen really inspired me to be motivated, so these next 6 weeks are going to be the best for language study! I can't wait!
Well onto the story and the spiritual message that I would like to leave with you all. The MTC has a lot of aspects that could be related to a prison. There is a big fence around it. There are a whole bunch of buildings and there is even a magical voice that tells us when we should go to bed each night. So yeah, some elders here are just waiting to get out. We had a devotional a couple weeks ago where the speaker said of our MTC stay and our mission that we can either serve time or we can serve the Lord. But then he said that prisoners serve time. So if that is all we do then we are no better than them. It is my testimony that as we all strive to serve the Lord each and everyday we become His instruments. Here at the MTC, when we are working hard to serve the Lord, the only one in prison is the adversary. The MTC is definitely a paradise for me and I am enjoying my time serving the Lord here and coming closer to him. It is an amazing feeling to be literally a representative of Him. I invite all of you to be more focused on becoming servants of the Lord and binding Satan in your lives this week! I love this gospel and I love all of your love and support!
Have an amazing week!
